For stubborn marks, use mild soap, a soft brush and thorough rinsing; never bleach, solvents or pressure washers at close range, which damage the UV-stabilised surface and stitching. Clean early in the morning so fabric dries evenly without water spotting.
It also pays to keep a simple service record. Note the dates of cleans, re-tensioning and any repairs, along with the fabric warranty details from installation. If you ever sell the property, that record demonstrates a maintained asset rather than a tired fixture — and if warranty support is ever needed, documented care makes the conversation with your supplier quick and painless.

Fabric relaxes slightly over time, and a slack sail flaps, sags and ages fast. Check tension at the turnbuckles twice a year — the membrane should drum lightly when tapped, with no wrinkles radiating from corners. Re-tension evenly, a few turns at each corner in rotation, and always after the first major storm of the season.

While tensioning, inspect stitching at corners, webbing edges and every shackle and ring for corrosion or wear — catching a frayed seam early is a minor repair; missing it can cost the sail. Before forecast severe weather, consider dropping lightweight sails on quick-release hardware.
